Support Questions & Answers

How do I avoid capturing sensitive information?

Use the Capture Area Presets to focus on a single window or create a custom region. The live preview shows what is included before recording begins.

Can I record system audio and microphone together?

Yes. Select both inputs in the audio panel. PowerCord mixes them in real-time and keeps levels balanced automatically.

How do I enable Full Screen Webcam?

When recording click the Enter Webcam Priority button, press again to exit. Quickly activate this mode using the shortcut Shift+Apple+W.

Where are my recordings stored?

By default, PowerCord saves new captures inside its secure Documents folder. You can choose a different destination at any time and we will remember it with a security-scoped bookmark.

Does recording stop if my display sleeps?

No. The recording continues even if the display turns off. To avoid interruptions, keep your Mac awake or use the built-in Recording Monitor.

Can I customize webcam border styles?

Yes. Open the webcam inspector to switch between frames and shapes.

Can I control the recording frame rate?

Yes. Use the Frame Rate control to switch between 30 fps and 60 fps. Lower frame rates produce smaller files while 60 fps keeps gameplay and motion ultra smooth.

Troubleshooting Guide

Recording did not start

  • Confirm screen recording access is granted in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
  • Restart PowerCord so the permission change takes effect.
  • If using multiple displays, ensure the selected display is active.

Audio is missing or distorted

  • Verify your microphone is selected and not muted within PowerCord.
  • Check system volume levels and disable other apps that may control the same device.
  • Record a short test clip and review the levels in the Recording Monitor.

Export takes too long

  • Ensure your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for 4K exports.
  • Close background apps that might compete for GPU resources.
  • Export a shorter section first to confirm settings before rendering the full project.

Timeline feels sluggish

  • Trim unused footage from the start and end of each clip.
  • Record smaller sized clips to reduce strain on the timeline.
  • Quit other resource-intensive applications while editing.
